If you would like to learn how to make a lampshade, I run workshops teaching how to make contemporary drums (using either fabric or paper) and traditional hand sewn lampshades - no previous experience needed!
I am based in sunny Surrey (near Reigate) and run classes in my workroom either in a small class or on a 1-2-1 basis, but can also travel to you to teach. Please see below or contact me for detail. I also teach at Clothkits in Chichester, West Sussex.
“I recently attended one of Jane Warren’s (drum) Lampshade Making workshops, and what a fantastic morning it was!
Jane is a great tutor, her clear instruction, patient and friendly approach made the morning so much more enjoyable.
I am so impressed that in just 3 hours Jane taught me how to create a fabulous lampshade which now hangs
proudly in my living room!” Ingrid
"I cannot recommend Jane Warren and The Lampshade Loft highly enough for the wonderful course on traditional
lampshade making. Not only is Jane a gracious and thoughtful host, but also what she doesn't know about traditional
lampshade making is not worth knowing. Time is taken at every point in the tutorials to make sure you have
thoroughly grasped the techniques to ensure that your shadeis perfect in every way. I can't wait to start putting all my
new skills into practice! many many thanks" from Dawn, at the Sewing Box
'Thank you so much for a fabulous lampshade workshop. I loved learning the traditional method, it is such a lovely skill to have. It is very therapeutic too!! Your teaching methods are so calm and inspiring which comes from your love of what you do! Thank you for inspiring me too. I am so pleased with the shade I bought home that it has pride of place on my bedside table! I look forward to doing another of your lovely classes in the near future. Thank you.' Mandy, Beechwood Curtain Design
'I can't recommend lampshade tutorials with Jane from the Lampshade Loft enough! I attended Jane's drum shade course and had such a fab day. Jane's way of teaching is excellent and as a result I came away with a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved. Having had such an enjoyable experience I wanted to learn more and asked Jane if she would teach me the traditional lampshade craft. Not only have I come away with a new skill/business as a result of Jane's teaching and passion, I feel I have also made a friend! Sarah SW4 Interiors
