Vintage Coach and Horses standard lampshade
This is a great example of the classic Btitish lampshade that were seen in pubs and country homes in the 1950's. With its iconic design of coach and horses, the wonderful added extra is the 'cut-out' windows in the featured houses, so that when the standard lamp was switched on, the light shone through the windows. This shade is made of a double layer of laminate, with the image printed on the outside, and then cut out to reveal the windows. The red panels are a fine fabric adhered to the panels - all with a classic gimp trimming along the edges and top and bottom, and a fine fringing on the base.
Standard lamp fitting.
Vintage condition: some of the window 'panes' are not 100% in place but this does not distract from the effect when lit. The trim at the base is slightly loose, and the lminate interior is slightly marked and stained but does not at all show and is only to be expected for its age!
SIze: Height - 35.5cm, width at widest part at base - 49cm, width at widest part top - 29.5cm
