Foxhunting country scenes large vintage lampshade
This wonderful vintage lampshade hails from the mid 20th century and is a classic example of country house interiors. The fabric is either a silky cotton or silk, and has a fox hunting design - men in red coats on horseback with their hounds running ahead! In the distance we can glimpse a huge country estate house, but the key features here are the horses - jumping and galloping across the fabric. This has been stretched across an empire drum shade, large and perfect for a standard lamp. The shade has a gold gimp braid around the top ring, and there is a 5cm base trim which has a double looped silky fringe. This lampshade gives a fantastic warm light and is the star in any room.
The shade has a duplex fitting which means you will need a shade carrier to use this for a standard lamp, or a spider fitting, so that you can use it as a ceiling shade (both readily availble from lighting shops or John Lewis).
Size: top diameter - 36cm, base diameter - 51cm, height - 41cm.
Vintage condition: the outer fabric is in very good condition. The inner lining has a few issues - there is one narrow tear of 5cm in height, and it could be cleaner but none of this is visible from the outside, and is only to be expected given its age. A fabulous classic English country house lampshade.
