PAYMENT AND DELIVERY
Do I need a PayPal account? What methods of payment do you accept?
You are not required to have a PayPal account to pay via PayPal. Non-PayPal members can pay with their credit card via the PayPal interface without needing to register.
When will my order be sent?
Lampshades and cushions are sent free of charge as standard delivery in the UK, and orders are turned around within 5 working days from receipt of payment and dispatched using either Royal Mail's Parcelforce48, a reputable courier service with tracking facility, or by 1st class post. Because I teach, make and source vintage shades, dispatches are usually made only once a week. If you need your order any quicker, please contact me to see if it is possible for earlier delivery, I will do my best to help.
Please note we often recycle packaging for your order. Please allow 2 - 3 weeks for any special orders until despatch. For overseas orders, please contact me for shipping costs to your required destination, before you place an order.
A 100% refund on your purchased goods will be happily made, provided they are returned to us within 10 working days of the delivery date. Goods must be returned in their original packaging, using a guaranteed and trackable delivery service for which the buyer is responsible for paying for and must arrive in perfect order. If you wish to return any item for any reason, please contact us in advance so that we are ready to process your return as soon as possible. Please be aware that the large lampshades cost around £13 to be sent via Royal Mail's Parcelforce service, so its good to be sure before you order! Items described as ‘vintage’ or ‘retro style’, are items that have been previously used and owned and therefore they may have signs of wear and tear, but are fully described with all their charming vintage defects, and therefore cannot be described as faults.
Regrettably, returns or refunds cannot be made on any bespoke items.
We try our hardest to show the colours of our items as accurately as possible but because of different computer settings the colours may vary on various computer screens. We recommend that you please ask any questions before you purchase, or with modern shades, ask for a fabric sample first. Thank you.
Will you make me a lampshade?
Yes - I ask customers to send me details of their fabric and let me know what kind of frame they wish to have. I will send you a quote and we go from there! I can supply frames and linings (if a soft shade) but not fabric or trims. Please contact me for more detail.
What bulb should I use?
A maximum 40 watt or eco bulb is recommended for use with lampshades, and ideally bulbs should be placed a minimum of 5cm away from the side of the shade.
What fittings do the lampshades have?
The drum shades have a converter fitting so they can be used with both UK and European light fittings. The vintage shades have a UK fitting only or the larger vintage shades often have a duplex fitting, which means that you will need either a shade carrier to fit a standard lamp or lamp base, or a spider fitting to use the shade as a ceiling or pendant light. We sell vintage shade carriers and spider fittings here in the webshop or both of these items can easily be found at a local lighting shop.
What size shade carrier should I purchase?
This really depends on how tall you wish your shade to be on your standard lamp, and they come in many different heights. As general advice, work out the distance you wish to have between the standard lamp fitting and the duplex (large) ring on your lampshade, and purchase one to your desired height.
What materials are used on the inside of the shades?
The modern shades have a firm laminate inner (see individual products for detail). All the PVC products have passed the glow wire test carried out by the Lighting Association. The vintage or hand sewn shades have either a balloon lining in a polyester, silk or related fabric, or do not have a lining (please see individual product details).
