Welcome to the Lampshade Loft Blog

My name is Jane Warren and I love interiors - especially how they are lit up and enhanced by lovely lampshades. I make shades and teach you how to as well, so sign up and learn how to make them in your own choice of fabric.

In my blog here I offer tips on how to make the best lampshades - oversized, using paper, if to line or not and other random subjects all to do with shades!

Please read about my collaborations and inspirations on this blog, and sign up to receive my newsletter to hear more news and tips!

Zeena Shah and the art of Printing Fabric Lampshades

By Jane Warren, Nov 6 2015 04:24PM

It was such a pleasure to be invited to the launch of Zeena Shah's book publication last week! Her wonderful first title 'How to Print Fabric' is such an accessible how-to book, it's bound to fly off the shelves. With full tutorials on how to make twenty different crafty items - the book appeals to lots of different people with different projects in mind. From a printed skirt to a beanbag, the reader is also taught so many different ways of printing - lino cutting, screen printing, elastic band printing and even string printing to name just a few. All these lovely activities can be carried out at home and you can also see taster videos on youtube from Zeena. My favourite of course is the Forest drum lampshade tutorial, and the method used (screen printing with photo emulsion) ensures that your screen is able to be used again and again - how wonderful! and if you come up with your own designs, then the lampshade market is there for the taking!

It was also a lovely surprise to be given such a great mention by Zeena in the book - thank you so much! Available from Zeena at her website
