Welcome to the Lampshade Loft Blog

My name is Jane Warren and I love interiors - especially how they are lit up and enhanced by lovely lampshades. I make shades and teach you how to as well, so sign up and learn how to make them in your own choice of fabric.

In my blog here I offer tips on how to make the best lampshades - oversized, using paper, if to line or not and other random subjects all to do with shades!

Please read about my collaborations and inspirations on this blog, and sign up to receive my newsletter to hear more news and tips!

UK Handmade meets The Lampshade Loft!

By Jane Warren, Aug 10 2015 10:49AM

I was so pleased to be asked by UK Handmade to give good pointers about running workshops. Teaching traditional lampshade making workshops is one of my favourite pastimes - I mean jobs! - and sharing good practice always makes me happy! I started teaching because I was working alone, and teaching is a great way of meeting people.

Where some may keep their skills close to their chest, I prefer to share mine - and some lovely small businesses have sprung up as a result - how satisfying is that?

If you are a crafter, please join UK Handmade - in their words - "UK Handmade is a design-led online magazine committed to showcasing and promoting the best creative talent the UK has to offer".

Also, if you love crafts but aren't a maker, you can also find on their website details of events, fairs and workshops and read HERE the fascinating articles about the huge array of independent talent we have in the UK.
