Lampshades help First class student!

By Jane Warren, Jun 26 2015 12:10PM

It was so lovely to be approached by third year textiles student, Robyn Gates, asking if I could make her some lampshades for her final coursework for her degree.

As soon as I set eyes on her designs, my answer was a resounding yes! Robyn had designed and printed a fantastic range of fabrics and then set about creating different home accessories with them - including lampshades.

Her inspiration came from the wonderfully colourful world of fruit, one of natures most beautiful and colourful offerings - her research into displays by stallholders, shops, supermarkets was extensive and resulted in inspiring her to creating a really imaginative and original textile design.

Once printed, she devised style and sizes of the shades she wanted, and the results speak for themselves. And she got a FIRST! well done Robyn, it was really great to be a small part of your success!

Robyn is currently at New Designers 2015 in London - check it out here
